Rick Warren has taken a lot of heat from both the Left and Right for accepting President Elect Barrack Obama's invitation to pray at the Innauguration.
Why did he do it? What does he think about homosexuality? Civil unions? Barrack Obama?
See his response here.

I was reading through Romans and I came across vs.11-23 and I was wondering if someone could talk about this.I feel like I am chosen by GRACE,but what about the people that are not? Is this where we are to evangelize and even though some refuse to listen can God use us to show his LOVE .
Some people don’t think that God would do this.

Warren's response was a fine one. Certainly one I respect and expected and exactly how it should be.
A couple of things: first off, I think that while he's right, the Media looks for conflict to tell a story (if it bleeds it leads), most people (and this isn't directed @ Warren) don't realize is what it takes to tell that story, why? how? who? why them and not someone else? Warren is a new face. And that's it. Osteen is a newer face for the media to talk to to. Billy Graham has retired, he was long the media's go to among others, but in a new year, a new time, there are new people…and the Media looks for the best person for the story and sometimes they get the worst person. It's a process…. Everyday. People are passionate about Faith, Politics, and Money…and these are TOUCHY subjects…so these are the most difficult things for the media to decide on and when they do, they come out swinging. Here's something else I know about journalists: for as much bias as they are to "avoid"- they are the most opinionated people I know. And they're human…
I think people look at the media and make them un-human and hold high expectations and yet those same people want the media to undercut…and be conniving. it's a too way street. The media…they're human and they're a biz…they aim to please…so the public can't fault the media for for giving them what they want. Also? Each network appeals t its own crowd
Warren made it clear, before voting ever occurred that he respected both McCain and Obama and Warren was fair and I think it was just fine for Obama to choose Warren for inauguration day.
sorry for my long response…just got me thinking. wink

First: Barack is spelled with only one R. Just FYI.
Second: I understand Obama wishing to reach out to religions that are not exactly like his (i.e. Obama is not an evangelical Christian), but since he already had two Christians on the docket (Lowry and Robinson), why not reach out to a rabbi or an imam?
