Zacherias and Elizabeth were people who loved God and so was Mary. When they were approached by the angel, Mary believed sooner and Zack later. They both glorified the Lord in these passages. I wonder the 3 months Mary and Elizabeth stayed together about how blessed they both were as they fellowshiped together.

I don't think I've ever really looked at the first chapter of these two books from the singular perspective of how Zachariah and Mary responded to the angel, initially and in their later praises. Zach questioned the validity of the message, asking for proof by saying "how can I be sure of this?". Mary only asked "how Will this be", indicating her belief that it will happen. I am sad to say that I respond more like Zach with questions and speculations than the confidence of true belief. It is a wonderful thing to read on and witness Zach's restoration after he folows through in obedience on the angel's instructions. And no wonder that he sings a song of redemption. I've experienced the unnecessary hardship of delayed obedience caused by doubt and fear. I pray the Lord will help me with my unbelief, so It can also be said of me: Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!

INSIGHT: God wants to move and do great things in our lives. Am I trusting and showing I have fatih in his power BEFORE I see his acts, or am I waiting for him to move and building faith off of what he proves. JOHN 1:50,51

Bonie Caruso's comment is right on. The difference between a response: "How can this be God, I mean can you prove it to me?" and, "How can this be God, I mean I don't know how this is possible, but then, what do I know in comparison to You?" is immense. One is unbelief the other is logic and humility. Humility says the universe is bigger than what our minds can get around. So be it.
