What I thought about Easter (in 30 seconds or less)

Awesome!!!

I know it’s over used, but I can’t think of another word to describe what we experienced together this weekend.

Just awesome.

The numbers:
- 44 services
- 17,189 people
- 1000′s of volunteers
- 100′s of new Christ followers
- Lot’s of tears
- Gallons of lemon-aid

Another pastor asked me, “What did you guys do special this year?”

Honestly, I had to scratch my head and think about that one. My answer:

“Nothing really. We just had church. No advertising. No special set. Not even any moving lights. Just church. And some lemon-aid.”

People invited their friends. They showed up. So did God.

It was awesome.

If a friend came with you this weekend, ask them what they experienced. Open up a conversation about what it looks like for you to be a Christ follower.

Don’t forget to ask them to come back. We do pretty much the same thing every week.

Who knows, it might just be awesome this weekend too. I’m pretty sure Jesus will be there.

What do you think?

  1. Thanks for sharing this! How awesome to hear what God is doing! I consider myself blessed to have had the opportunity to grow and learn as part of the Seacoast team in Columbia. I know I am who I am now because of the investment that was made in me by this church.

  2. Just a quick note to thank you for the highlight of the Special Needs Children’s ministry. Many that either need it or would be great in serving with us still don’t know about it.

    Rog.

  3. When people come to Seacoast they find God. I still cry every weekend. I know people love me and I feel free to love them. I think visitors can tell that they are welcomed. The pastors are good too.

  4. Invited a friend to join- were late because he got lost getting to my house with wrong GPS info. All were kind of stressed that we were late- had to sit upstairs. The friend was the same age of the guy in the video who was killed in a motorcycle accident. My friend had a motorcycle accident on Rivers Ave.- was pronouned dead at the scene and then luckily worked on at the hospital and after a month in a coma- came to with years of rehab that followed. But, he is alive. Satan was trying very hard to make sure he didn’t hear that message- but he did. God is good!

  5. We were in IOP for Easter Break and wanted to come to Seacoast…found out the service was sold out! What was done for those who didn’t have a ticket? It’s funny, that’s the same things synagogues do for the holidays! Maybe next t..and I am in agreement with you! There are 51 other weekends per year where you can attend with no difference (‘cept more seats). We will catch you on one of those!

  6. Raisa – I’m sorry you weren’t able to come. We were not “sold out”. The tickets were simply a tool to help us know how to better serve those who came. I would be interested in knowing how you received that info?

  7. Great sermon on Transition. I needed to hear that God will give me Peace, Purpose and Power during my transition that is happening right now. I cried the whole service! I always feel God’s presence there and HE walks with me everyday. We talk alot. Thanks to Seacoast that my teenage children also know and love GOD. This is a powerful influence in their lives and hopefully will help them make better choices than I did. Greg, I am so grateful you brought Seacoast here. Have a safe trip to Israel.

  9. As a campus pastor it was an incredible day. I was able to pray with a 12 year old girl who was in ‘big church’ for service. She accepted Christ right there. Then a husband of one of our attenders who is not a believer but is a CEO (Christmas, Easter only) came up and wanted to talk. We went into a side room and he shared his struggle with belief and we prayed. I believe that he became a Christ follower that day, or at least is well on his way to faith. It was great to just be able to do what we normally did and let god do the stuff. Awesome is a pretty good word for what God did.

  10. It was awesome as it always is. The really life changing part for me was being introduced to the Coker family. I can see the potential for growth. The lemonade was such a nice touch.

  11. Greg, We checked the website Sunday AM to see the service times. It said no tickets were available for the first two services. As I am from out of town I thought that meant you needed a ticket to go in. The noon service was available, but we needed to leave before then to head back home.
